Lighting the way forward for Pasig entrepreneurs and transport workers

MANILA, Philippines — Global Dominion Financing Inc. (Global Dominion) introduced two of its programs, GLOW and Ka-Partner Academy, to micro-entrepreneurs and members of the transport sector at the 1st Pasig City Micro Finance Summit held on October 8 at Chardonnay by Astoria and organized by the Pasig City Local Economic Development and Investment Office (LEDIO).
The summit brought together micro-entrepreneurs and members of Pasig’s transport sector.
Financial institutions, banks, and cooperatives also took part, each presenting its programs to the community. Global Dominion joined them, with Mark Billante, Head of Business Development presenting the company’s programs and making the case for stronger support to small businesses.
He began with why support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) matters. Citing 2023 Philippine Statistics Authority data published by the Department of Trade and Industry, he noted that MSMEs make up 99.63% of all business establishments in the country. Together, they provide more than 6.35 million jobs, or nearly 67% of total employment.
Many of these businesses still struggle to get formal credit. Without collateral or a credit history, small entrepreneurs often borrow from informal lenders at high interest, and transport workers with irregular daily income face the same barrier.
He then presented two Global Dominion programs built to help close that gap. GLOW (Giving Limitless Opportunities to Women) is a financing program that supports women entrepreneurs with financing and business guidance, recognizing the role women play in running small businesses in their communities.
Ka-Partner Academy offers practical business and financial knowledge to people who want to grow alongside the company. Both Ka-Partner Academy and the learning sessions under GLOW are open even to non-borrowers, in line with Global Dominion’s mission of supporting Filipino MSMEs.
For entrepreneurs ready to expand, Billante pointed to Global Dominion’s collateral-based loans as a source of that extra push. Through Sangla OR/CR, owners can use their vehicle’s official receipt and certificate of registration to secure capital while keeping the vehicle in use, a good fit for transport workers who rely on their units every day. Business loans secured with collateral can likewise fund new inventory or equipment.
“When we help a small business grow, we also protect the jobs and incomes of the families who depend on it,” Billante said. “With GLOW and Ka-Partner Academy, we want to light the way forward for them, whether that means a loan to expand or the know-how to manage and sustain what they have built.”
Samuel Cariño, president and CEO of Global Dominion, thanked the Pasig City government and LEDIO for the opportunity. “Global Dominion has always seen itself as a partner in the growth of Filipino entrepreneurs, and we look forward to working with more of Pasig’s business owners and transport workers,” he said.
For Global Dominion, joining the summit alongside banks and cooperatives is part of how it reaches the entrepreneurs who need financing most. Many micro-entrepreneurs and transport workers fall outside what traditional lenders can serve, and events like this let the company meet them face to face and explain its programs in plain terms.
“Being in the same room as banks, cooperatives, and the city government shows entrepreneurs that they have more than one partner they can turn to,” Cariño said. “Our commitment is to be Ka-Partner Mo sa Pag-Angat (Your Partner in Growth), and that starts with showing up where our clients are.”
