'A hero can be anyone': Puppy saves 5-year-old girl from burning house in GenSan
MANILA, Philippines — A four-month-old Belgian Malinios puppy saved a five-year-old child sleeping inside a burning house in General Santos recently.
According to veterinarian Jacquiline Rufino Madi, every member of the family, including puppy Princess, suddenly woke up realizing that their house is burning at 2 a.m.
They all ran out to save themselves from the fire but Princess kept on barking as if she’s telling them something.
“Meet Princess, a 4-month old, Belgian Malinios puppy. For still unknown reason, her owner's house caught on fire two days ago. Every member of the family, including Princess, was woken up by their house already on fire,” Madi said.
“Panicking, every single one of them, ran out of the house to save themselves. For some reason, Princess wouldn't stop barking at her owner as if she is telling them something,” she added.
Princess’ owner followed the puppy only to find out that the owner’s daughter was still inside the house.
“When this puppy finally caught her owner's attention, she immediately ran back inside the burning house. Her owner was shocked but straight away followed the dog inside the burning and almost collapsing house,” she said.
"Only to find out that the owner's daughter, a five-year old child, was still inside, deeply asleep. Of course, the owner picked up his child and ran out as fast as he can while avoiding the fire and collapsing materials. Princess, on the other hand, managed to escape by following her owner's steps,” she added.
The veterinarian said that Princess is now recovering from the burns she got during the incident.
“Her face and 4 legs, particularly her pads, were severely affected. A Heart for Paws Gensan with caring arms rescued and brought Princess to the vet. For you people with soft hearts, you can help heal this little fella thru donating. Just check their page for details. This just proves that 'A hero can be anyone.' Even a creature with four paws can save someones life. (Batman),” she said.
