MANILA, Philippines — News reporter Kara David shared her humorous reaction to a comic illustration depicting her recent birthday wish addressing Philippine corruption.

Kara celebrated her 52nd birthday last week but began trending a few days later when a belated birthday dinner video with her husband's family trended circulated online.

"Wish? Sana mamatay lahat ng kurakot sa Pilipinas!" Kara said in the viral video.

Many found Kara's wish hilarious and relatable including comic artist Kevin Raymundo, who posted on his Tarantandong Kalbo platforms an illustration of Kara above a Congress plenary hall filled with lifeless and faceless bodies.

Kevin greeted Kara "Happy birthday" in his posts' captions and Kara took wind of it in jest.

"Hahahaha. Salamuch! Death note lang ang peg," Kara commented, comparing the illustration to the manga series about a notebook grants users the ability to kill anyone whose name is written in it.

Kara's initial post has since garnered over 4.3 million views, 137,000 likes, 25,000 shares and 11,300 comments.
