Swatch is spot-on style and function

GO-SEE - Joyce Oreña -

You’d think their last event you attended would be their most unforgettable ever — until the next one comes along. Swatch’s latest event, Play Time, was like that. It certainly took over the most unforgettable spot. The Swatch Interactive Billboard at Greenbelt 5 was transformed yet again into another cool and fun spot. Dots covered the walls and the floor. Everything was spotted. Picture a sophisticated carnival of sorts combined with a casino and a game show brought together by a theme-inspired menu from Margarita Fores. Expect nothing but the best from Virgie Ramos, Swatch Philippines president: her bubbly personality and boundless energy completed the Swatch “Play Time” experience. Manila’s hip set was treated to oversized games of Chinese checkers, Dama, dominoes, and other dot-related games, while peepholes on the walls showed some Swatch videos. Seeing spots never looked this good.

Swatch is spot-on, yet again.

Play Time was on the dot. Swatch picked the perfect day, Aug. 8 — a double 8 — and a lucky day to have a cool and fun-filled event. It also marked the birthdays of Nanay Socorro, National Book Store’s matriarch who soon turns 88, Town & Country editor Yvette Fernandez who turned 44 (4+4!) and Chloe dela Merced who turned eight. Event hosts Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford greeted them and presented them with spotted cakes to celebrate their special day.

Dots-only themed games filled the night. The fun started with Nikki Gil showing off another talent when she became the last one standing in a hula-hoop competition and the first winner of the night. More delight followed from “Spots and Dots” to “Spot the Difference,” “Memory Spots,” “Connect the Dots,” “Limbo Rock Dots” and “Blowing Balloons.” Between games, numbers were drawn from the Tombola previously chosen by each guest as he entered the party. The lucky drawn winners were treated to gifts. The memory game was very memorable when Nanay Socorro beat her younger opponent. If I can be half as sharp and as energetic as Nanay at her age, I’d be happy. The night ended with the Get Spotted Awards. Nikki Gil took the Rainbow Dots Award, Dots and Tots went to Athena Valdes, Most Spots (the most number of dots in their outfit) to Tessa Prieto-Valdes, the King of Dots to Robby Carmona, and I took the Queen of Dots award.

Swatch Philippines has led the pack in organizing the hippest and most sophisticated parties. Each event transports you to a world they have created and makes you dream of only Swatch. It definitely hits the spot.

Previously associated with old-fashioned and wholesome looks, the polka dot print is reenergized and fresh again in the fashion scene. The result is spot-on style.

This season, high-fashion brands spotted their looks with prints from Miu Miu and Phillip Lim and Marc Jacobs, to name a few. Off the runway, celebrities and style icons were also spotted in the hottest prints, too.

Blur the monotony of your look with the latest exuberant collections of Swatch. Rock it out and add your own trademark. How will you wear your spots?
