The day the dogs came to party

My daughter Anara has three dogs – two Golden Retrievers – Maximus and Fifi and a Labrador – Scooby. She walks her dogs after she gets home from school.

Recently, she decided to celebrate Maximus’ fifth birthday by throwing a party for him. She invited a few of her classmates from the British School. She chose the ones who had dogs, and asked them to bring the dogs to the party. We decorated the garden with balloons and silver buntings. We bought a birthday cake for him and dog treats, too. We found it hard to find prizes for the dog party, so we gave the winners dog treats. Some of the dogs came dressed for the occasion. The dogs also played fetch – the kids would throw the ball and/or boomerang and the dogs would fetch them. Fortunately, the dogs did not fight with each other. It was really difficult to get them together for the group picture.

It was such a wonderful way to spend the afternoon! If you could have seen the girls’ smiles, your heart would have melted. This dog party was a first for everyone and it certainly beat spending time in the mall. They all had a blast!
