Princess Fernandez: Babies born this year will be great leaders

As the Year of the Rooster makes its exit with its last feeble crow and the Year of the Earth Dog barks its way in at the stroke of midnight on Friday, Feb. 16, feng shui expert Princess Lim Fernandez, a management engineering graduate of Ateneo de Manila University, gives us a sneak peek of what (or what not) to expect.
Princess shows the way to “The Golden Path to Luck in the Year of the Earth Dog” in an auspicious event at the newly opened Grand Hyatt Manila, Bonifacio Global City (call 752-5882 or 811-6888, 0917-9892294).
• Born in the Year of the Rooster (1945), President Rodrigo Duterte, like all Roosters, has nothing to crow about as his sign this year is in conflict with the Dog (the other signs that are not so lucky this year are the Dragon, Goat, Ox, and yes, the Dog, even if it’s supposed to be his year). That means the President will undergo a lot more stress and pressure that might affect his health. As in the past two years, the health aspect of the President might not be that strong so he has to pay more attention to his health — get enough sleep and enough rest to minimize his potential health issues. And if there’s a lifestyle change that his doctors have been recommending, this is the time to seriously consider it.
“I always tell everybody that whatever appears in their chart is just a potential. We still have the human factor, what you can do about it,” Princess hastens to clarify.
• Because Malacañang is located in this year’s wealth position (southeast), Duterte will benefit from the wealth star. That means there will be new business opportunities knocking on Malacañang’s door.
• Vice President Leni Robredo, born in the Year of the Wood Snake (1965), will have a pretty lucky year.
• US President Donald Trump, born in the Year of the Dog (1946), could be biting off more than he can chew (what else is new?) as his sign offends the Grand Duke or Tai Suey God of the year. He should watch what he says all the more.
• As for Melania (the US first lady is a Trump and also a Dog, born 1970), who’s two cycles younger than Donald (one cycle equals 12 years), she’ll have better luck than her husband. She’ll become more productive and support charitable causes.
• This is not a marrying year as there are not a lot of romance stars like last year. The energy or emotion related to earth is that of meditation. Thus, this year, people will be more perceptive and reflective — and not be impulsive and just jump into a life-altering decision (like taking the marital plunge). Thus, couples who already have plans — or are set to marry (like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) — should opt for a self-evaluation first to find out if they’re really right for each other or if they are at the right point in their lives to get married.
• But for those who have been in a relationship for a long time, and really know each other well, now is the time to get married.
• This is an interesting year for babies. Babies born this year (called faikong babies) are one of only four zodiac signs who have the characteristics of a great leader — they’re strong-willed and very determined. Expect babies born starting Feb. 4, at 5:30 a.m., the beginning of spring, to be born leaders. Take double note that babies with these leadership qualities come only once in a 60-year cycle. So, what expectant mom Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton can expect of the child she is carrying now is a potential leader or someone who will be very good in sports.
“But this is a double-edged sword,” Princess elaborates. “It’s good for the baby but not so good for his parents as it will be very hard for them to rein in their willful child without dampening his spirits and clipping his wings.”
• This year is potentially a very emotional one and because of these heightened emotions and the misunderstandings that may crop up, lawyers will do very well this year.
• There will be earth-related disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, and volcanic eruptions.
• Healthwise, because the earth is in the center of the chart, just as the stomach is smack in the middle of the body, watch out for stomach-related diseases. That means you should try to maintain a healthy digestive system, take probiotics, eat the right food because everything stems from the gut.
Earth means mounds and, translated to the body, that can mean a tumor or a growth or even something as simple as a pimple. Whatever it is, we should be more proactive about our health.
• As a lot of people will go back to the basics, to their foundation or roots, industries that will do well this year are those that cater to people’s feeling of wellness and comfort (like wellness clinics).
• In the Year of the Earth Dog, people will try to simplify their lives more. You go back and reflect on what made you strong, how you got to this point in your life. You look back and tell yourself it’s all because of the love and support of your family and friends. You become more conscious about spending time with your loved ones. And nothing else on earth matters.
