Francine Gacrama - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - While Chanel made its presence known in the once-elusive Cuba, Nicolas Ghesquière takes us on a tropical getaway to sunny Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2017 show.

Staged at the Niterój Contemporary Art Museum that was designed by famed Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, the collection proved to be a vibrant display of color that’s equal parts Rio and sporty-inspired. The lineup included color-blocked dresses with asymmetric hemlines, oversized zipped-up tops and a number of pieces that had ruffles and cutout detailing. For the show’s color palette, Ghesquiére took cues from the Grand Prix, which was visible in the display of zingy prints, tones and silhouettes. Apart from the winding walkway, which made for a superb catwalk, the true scene-stealers were the accessories. Sequined scarves, race car-inspired bags and boombox trunks that actually played music proved to be on point.

YStyle takes inspiration from the Cruise collection that’s got everyone wishing they were in Rio.

Body Oil: Herbivore Citrine

Oil up, it’s good for you.

The Citrine body oil comprises a blend of pure, natural botanical oils that can help nourish and hydrate the skin. The bottle contains all-natural ingredients like Rosehip oil, which is rich in essential fatty acids. This component helps regenerate skin cells and repair damaged tissue as well as prevent premature aging. Neroli oil is an essential oil that acts as an antioxidant with antimicrobial properties. This has been known to soften wrinkles, reduce veins and capillaries, and stimulate growth in skin cells.

Overall, a little goes a long way; trust that this holy grail product can save you from looking ashy.

Jewelry: Charlotte Chesnais Saturn Earrings

Make the case with hoop earrings and there’s no turning back.

The Saturn earring is truly a worthy addition to your collection thanks to fresh designer Charlotte Chesnais. The designer reimagines the once-coveted hoop earring in a cool new way. Chesnais worked alongside Nicolas Ghesquière for nine years during his time in Balenciaga and steered the launch of its jewelry line. Her pieces are all handmade in France and come in either silver, vermeil or 18-karat gold.

Hair Mask: Davines NouNou Hair Mask

Now that summer’s on the way out, it’s time to give some TLC to the mane that  deserves more than your average bottle of conditioner.

Davines Hair Mask uses organic ingredients, is eco-friendly and at the same time avoids the use of fragrances. The nourishing mask is ideal for chemical-treated hair, making it soft and silky without weighing the hair down. Leave the mask for 10-15 minutes, comb through and the natural active ingredient Fiaschetto Tomato will start to kick in, giving your hair the moisture it needs.

Film Series: The Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice

Trust Gia Coppola to come up with a four-part film series for Gucci that’s visually striking.

The series takes place in modern-day New York City and the storyline orbits around one of the most famous ancient love stories, the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele worked closely on the film, creating a custom 10-foot wedding veil just for the first part of the two-minute video. Award-winning costume designer Arianne Phillips styled Lou Doillon, daughter of Jane Birkin, who was completely decked out in a sea of whimsical embroidery and metallic accents. The film score, which was composed by Devonté Hynes, added a certain kind of ease to the dreamlike mood of the four-part series.

Watch the story unfold complete with Gucci wardrobe and Coppola’s visually dreamy yet gritty style of filmmaking come to life.

Perfume: Regime des Fleurs in Nitesurf

Bold, thematic, with a zingy twist, this fragrance is one that you can’t miss out on.

The 30ML neon bottle contains Tunisian Neroli water absolute, floral ozone, phosphorescent petal accord, ginger lily and transparent citrus, making it an herby concoction that’s good for the senses.

Sunglasses: Abella by Sunday Somewhere

While we love our designer mainstays, here’s a brand that can help accessorize your Sunday state of mind.

These crystal frames push the limits in terms of materials and technology and quite frankly, they’ve hit the sweet spot. The pair is made out of Italian acetate complete with German OBR stop hinges. The lenses are coated in resin and have UV protection to help shield your peepers from the harsh sunlight. The Abella design comes in three different color ways so don’t feel like you have to settle with this finish.

Hair: Sonia Rykiel Fall 2016

The term got-out-of-bed is getting a bit old but the look is here to stay.

Hairstylist Paul Hanlon created a classic Bardot or Kate Moss look by adding extensions to add volume to the hair. The hair was divided into big sections in order to create big, beautiful curls that were soon combed out. Dry shampoo and salt spray were misted through the waves and roughly massaged at the back of the crown for that pillow hair look.

Bag: Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2016

Make room in your wardrobe for a bag that’s beyond trendy and is here to stay — the bucket.

We’re all about the loosely tied handled purses and this piece from Salvatore Ferragamo is no exception. The style has proven over the last few seasons that it has the potential to become more than your average purse. Steer clear from storing this gem in the shelves of your closet and carry on with a purse that’s both versatile and visually appealing.

Shoes: Chanel Resort 2017

Show off your latest pedicure in these steppers  — and yes, they’re Chanel.

Cop the slides, which make the look and update your sandals with a pair that’s decked out in pearls. Comfortable with a hint of opulence, these black sandals can be worn beyond the walls of home without a hint of shame.
