Ode to a nightingale

MANILA, Philippines - Clothing with feeling is often difficult to find. In an era of fast fashion, quick trends and a listlessness of detail, emotion no longer seems to play a part in what was once the foremost form of self-expression. Enter Studio.Nueve, the fledgling collaboration between a famous local jewelry designer and a fashion entrepreneur. With its first small RTW collection set to launch later in the year, the partners trace the art form of dressing back to a time of simplicity brimming with sentiment, an antithesis to the casualness that has been watered down by the Normcore trend. Using organic cotton and recycled Indian silk print fabrics, the traditional caftan silhouettes and loose draping both women are so fond of wearing are reinterpreted for the woman who cares about her clothes, but not too much. These are clothes that are meant to be worn down, to be loved, to breathe, to live, to travel and to feel.
