Paris, darling?

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Paris is always a good idea. According to a survey conducted by Agoda.com, one of the leading hotel booking sites in Asia, Filipinos still prefer the quintessentially romantic European getaway to exotic island vacations, especially when it comes to their honeymoon or a romantic spur of the moment trip for lovers. Good information to know if you’re thinking of taking that certain someone on a very special date.

In the honeymoon survey, Agoda.com asked a sample set of over 15,000 of their customers from all over the globe where their dream getaway would be from a list of twenty destinations. While many from other countries like America and Asia chose the Maldives, which was the number one honeymoon destination according to the survey, Filipinos tended to choose Paris and other European destinations like Italy as their preference.

According to Errol Cooke, vice president of Global Hotels, “We know the Maldives is a popular destination for couples but we were surprised that its allure is so global. Among countries where we had more than 100 respondents, only three didn’t pick it as the most popular dream honeymoon destination — the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand.”

Perhaps owing to our close proximity and access to our own world-class beaches only hours away, it’s safe to say the Filipinos know the right recipe for romance when it comes to vacations. A comfortable hotel and your loved one by your side, a European adventure will always be what the doctor ordered, because really, how can you go wrong with Paris.
