COMPILED - Cai Subijano - The Philippine Star

In full bloom

MANILA, Philippines - Harnn is an Asian brand of bodycare and home spa products, which arrived in the Philippines this month. The brand draws inspiration from unique Asian holistic philosophies and currently carries five different collections. The Oriental Herbs collection was developed to revitalize and hydrate skin and hair and suits those who like aromatic herbs and spices. The Jasmine collection uplifts the mind and nourishes and moisturizes skin. The Cymbopogon collection combines lavender and lemongrass, while Cymbopogon flexous is known for its antifungal, antimicrobial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. The Oriental Rose collection combines pure Chinese rose essential oil with seaweed extract to stimulate collagen and elastic production. The Tropical Wood collection blends sandalwood and orange blossom and contains nano-white technology to reduce dark spots and skin discoloration. Harnn also offers spa items, like the Botanical Compresses, which helps to relieve aches, muscle tension and minor skin ailments. A few drops from their Bath and Massage Oil collection after bathing helps in seal in moisture in skin. Last, the Natural Rice Bran Soaps and Aromatherapy collection completes the holistic home spa experience, along with Vuudh, a collection of aromatic candles, fragance sachets and room sprays.

Harnn is available on the G/F of Glorietta 5 and on the 2/F of SM Megamall A. For more information, visit Harnn.com.

Hair-raising

Iconic ‘60s hair stylist Vidal Sassoon defined an era with his blunt, edgy haircuts for the Mod girls of the decade: Twiggy, Mia Farrow, even Grace Coddington. While there’s a very slim chance of you getting your hair done by the master himself (he’s dead), you can still get the Vidal Sassoon experience with his line of haircare products. The Vidal Sassoon Premium Base Care Shampoo and Conditioner delivers hair elasticity by deeply penetrating hair with amino essences to repair damaged hair, while the dual surfactant enables moisturization and elasticity. The Vidal Sassoon Premiu Color Care collection has transparent veil technology that adds vibrancy and enhances shine, while repairing damaged hair due to coloring. The Magic Style Activator, despite what its name suggests, does not contain bottled magic, but is a pre-styling leave-on treatment that helps hairstyles last longer due to its increased conditioning benefits that reduce frizziness.

Pouty mouth

Maybelline’s new Lip Polishe by Color Sensational combines the color of a lipstick with the shine of a gloss with the care of a lip balm thrown in for great long-lasting lip color. Available in eight shades: Spring Fling, My First Kiss, Red Hot Date, TGIF, Ladies’ Night, Beach Trip, Meet The Parents and the au courant #Selfiemoment. The exclusive cushion feel of the lip polishes gives lips a plump, moisturized sensation while giving off hyper-saturated color. At just P349, you can actually get the entire collection for the price of a single tube of lipstick by a department store brand.

Beauty geekery

A lot of science goes into looking pretty. Next month, MAC will be launching another one of their new innovations: the Masterclass Brush Collection. Available in three sizes and promising to revolutionize the way we apply our makeup, the brushes feature special grip brush handles designed for absolute control, while the specially engineered Cosmefibres pick up and apply product seamlessly. “The brush head and handle are meant to run parallel to the face, instead of having to point the brush towards the face,” Nick Gavrelis, vice-president of Global Product Development for MAC Cosmetics, explains. “Masterclass Brushes are shaped to match the planes of the face, and the shape of the fiber bundles were made to adhere to the face’s various surfaces and contours.” The three brushes include Oval 6, which is for applying primer, foundation and face powders, and also for blush and bronze. Oval 3 is for blending cream or powder shadow to the eyes, as well as for applying foundation or concealer in hard-to-target areas: under and in the inside corner of the eyes and on the sides of the nose. Linear 1 concentrates product application on the lashline. You’ll never have to walk outside with streaky makeup again.
