A good way to dive hard
MANILA, Philippines - We arrived at the resort, El Pinoy in Anilao, Mabini, Batangas, expecting sand, and instead, saw deep blue waters crashing on an abridged shore of pebbles and corals just what the divers ordered. Meanwhile, the YStyle crew was content with the resort’s Filipino-Spanish design, especially the wooden view deck, where we shot our summer beauty and fashion editorials.
On a good day, El Pinoy is a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Makati via SLEX and Star Toll, and the resort itself is around 50 steps down a green hillside. It is located in the far side of Anilao, among vacation homes and exclusive villas, and sits on a marine sanctuary where professional divers and travelers can enjoy marine life up close. The water is clear, blue and of snorkeling quality –– you don’t even need to get your hair wet to catch a glimpse of what lies beneath.
El Pinoy’s largest room is large enough to accommodate our team of nine, two maletas of clothes and five shopping bags of products, a makeup chair and an accessories shoot set up –– all while each of us ran around the room. It was a good place to shoot, and we could imagine it would also be a good place to unwind and play staring games with the sun.
Pity we had to shoot through our whole stay, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meals at the long table that overlooked the sea, even witnessing a random bangkero escape into the dim horizon in the middle of the night.
