Jewelry inspired by light fixtures
Lights serve to illuminate, to brighten but in the case of FahLuxe designers Macky Fah and Celine Lopez, they serve as inspiration for their jewelry line.
During a series of jaunts all over the world, the pair were intrigued by mid-century light fixtures in western Europe. The results? Striking pieces in clean, modern lines in triple micro-dipped sterling silver in gold, with precious and semi-precious stone.
“Our Cage design,” Macky Fah explains of a hanging pendant set inside a gilded enclosure resembling a birdcage, “was derived from a Scandinavian mid-century light fixture which we made into earrings and necklaces.”
“The collection is called ‘Lustre’ because we were inspired by lighting fixtures and the radiance that gems reflect,” she adds.
Fah and Lopez are shining a light on the unconventional, churning out pieces lifted from imaginations honed by a lifetime of bijoux affection.
Fah grew up surrounded by tasteful jewels. Her mother dazzled with a collection assembled from a mix of vintage estate pieces and modern jewelry with classic lines. Her spouse, a scion of a family business rooted in jewelry for decades, rounded out her history. “Our main store is in Gstaad, Switzerland,” she says. “Most of our pieces are estate jewelry. Designing jewelry seemed like a natural evolution.”
After partnering with Lopez, the duo set to make one-of-a-kind jewelry: handmade, crafted with love and “inspired by the beautiful life.”
“Celine has an intrinsic talent for jewelry design,” Fah observes. “She comes up with unique ideas which really reflect her creative individuality.”
And how are women supposed to wear their jewelry? “These are for strong women with a sense of fun,” she says. “Our pieces should be worn casually, without any fuss.”
