Pick a tee, fly to Japan for free

MANILA, Philippines - We won’t be able to shop to our hearts’ content for Uniqlo’s brand of quality component wear until its first shop in the Philippines opens on June 15. But in the meantime, anyone with a Facebook account has a chance to win an item from Uniqlo’s highly popular UT line.

Until June 10, Uniqlo is holding the UT Vote & Win promo, an online and on-site promotion for the brand’s bestselling t-shirt line. A way of drumming up interest for the upcoming store opening, the promo also serves as a way for Filipinos to have an early Uniqlo and UT experience. “UT Vote & Win gives us a chance to show shoppers in the Philippines the kind of products that our brand has, particularly the UT, which I’m sure many Filipinos will love,” said Katsumi Kubota, managing director of Fast Retailing Philippines, during the promo announcement last April 28 at Uniqlo’s future store site at the SM Mall of Asia.

UT Vote & Win invites shoppers to pick their favorite UT designs from a selection of hit UT collaboration lines: Barbie, Hello Kitty, Concord Graphic, Metal Gear, Lords of Liver pool, Andy Warhol, Orla Kiely, Laura Ashley, Gundam, and Corporate Collaboration. There are two steps for joining: one is by visiting the Uniqlo hoarding wall at the SM Mall of Asia where iPads are available for voting, and the other is by liking the Uniqlo Philippines Facebook page and clicking on the UT Vote & Win app button.

Those who will cast the winning vote will be sent a confirmation email so they can claim their prize at the Uniqlo redemption booth at the Uniqlo hoarding wall, while those who voted in SM Mall of Asia can claim their UT product immediately also at the Uniqlo redemption booth.

One hundred winning voters will be drawn weekly and will receive UT shirts while the grand prize is an all-expense paid trip for two to Tokyo, Japan. To make the promo more exciting, Uniqlo is challenging Filipino netizens to get the Uniqlo Philippines Facebook page popular. “When we get 150,000 likes, we will draw four lucky winners for the grand prize,” revealed Jasmi Cruz, assistant marketing manager of Fast Retailing Philippines. “That means eight lucky folks will get to fly to Tokyo for free.” As if one free trip weren’t enough incentive already.
