Flights of fancy at Jojie Lloren

- JNF -

MANILA, Philippines - Women who are confident, strong, intelligent and perfectly primped are among Jojie Lloren’s urban muses. After his last collection on Mother Nature’s fury, he took a lighter route for summer 2012. “I want the collection to have a feeling of positivity and healing,” he says. Lloren presented a land of beautiful dreams, enveloping us masterfully in softly-constructed linen sheaths. He stayed with classic silhouettes — straight, A-line, and trapeze cuts, with models moving easily and the clothes draped elegantly on them, never revealing too much. Inspired by the idea of flight, symbolizing hope and aspiration, Lloren balanced flowy long gowns with geometric accordion details, “simulating bird wings in flight.” There were glimpses of the Orient and colors he had named after exotic spices — think cinnamon, saffron, turmeric, curry, caraway, cardamom, and clove. Though he sticks to the classics, Lloren shows there’s no need to reinvent if the formula works.
