JC Buendia: Revisiting the classics
MANILA, Philippines - A departure from the otherwise tarty confections by other designers, JC shows his confidence and courage by presenting an austere collection of billowing calf-length skirts with strong tops that hark to the days of Wallis Simpson.
Although the clothes may be better suited for colder climates, they have a timeless appeal that crosses borders of time and geography. The men’s suits are expertly tailored which deserve applause as many of our men’s suits are still stuck in the boxy and unflattering designs seen in Wall Street 1.
Of all his pieces, the one that roared was his bridal finale, which carried with it antique lace and a strong skirt. JC proves that classics both have an international appeal and are also free from redundant forms.
The combi-nation of soft and hard, stiff and flowing inspires freedom of fabric and thought. It opens the eyes to how to wear timeless.
JC has been a soldier for the classic and with this collection he doesn’t disappoint. Much appreciated are also the black and white colors, which strongly emphasize the shapes. He clearly designs for confident men and women: clothes which require perfect postures and fascinating personalities.
