United colors of fragrance

Rosso and Giallo for women, Verde and Blu for men. The names are in Italian, a tribute to the origins of United Colors of Benetton, but the images they evoke, the feelings they inspire, are universal. Some of these colors’ experiential associations and feelings are printed on the back of the boxes: berries, power, passion, petals for Rosso, a sexy, lively and warm fragrance. Being Benetton, the connotations are sometimes ambiguous: Hell, war, hate, Cuba are part of being red, with lush notes of mandarin, jasmine and patchouli. It’s stars, summer, energy and gold for Giallo, a sparkling, vibrant radiant scent that also implies woodpeckers, eggs and potatoes, with vibrants notes of spearmint, peach and vanilla. Hope, mint, football, nature alongside money, capitalism and chlorophyll for Verde, an energetic, natural and strong scent for men with reassuring notes of cedarwood, cardamom and nutmeg Denim, jazz, freedom, and asymmetry for Blu, a fresh, airy, infinite masculine fragrance that interprets the world’s favorite color with lemon, basil, and cedarwood.

Brush hour

Makeup junkies know that great makeup needs great brushes in order to get the best results. After years of dolling up the faces of some of the hottest celebs and models, veteran makeup artist Krist Bansuelo has decided to produce his very own line of high-quality makeup brushes that are reasonably priced. “After several samples, the brushes are finally made according to my specifications. You have to actually feel the brushes to experience their softness on the skin. These custom-designed brushes use premium synthetic fibers. They are made from the same supplier as that of top makeup brands; every brush uses the same premium fibers, even the eyeshadow brushes, making this very reasonably priced for its category,” shares Krist. The set includes a powder brush, a blush brush, contour brush, liquid foundation brush, concealer brush, eyeshadow brush, eye contour brush, eyeliner brush, lipliner brush and a brow comb brush. The set comes in a special white faux leather crocodile booklet type case and retails for only P5,000 for the whole 10-piece set including the faux crocodile case. The Krist Bansuelo Premium Brush Set is available at Watercolors, 3rd floor EDSA Shangri-La mall.

More than lip service

Leave it to Chanel to create something that will leave other glosses in hiding. In true Chanel form, the gel–like lip shine is encased in a opaque glass tube with a pro applicatory that allows you to coat lips properly for a three-dimensional patina. A lip lacquer that stays on without drying lips into unsavory flakes; a lipstick that melts away into a sensual color without sticky residue.

Chanel’s run(a)way hit Rouge Allure now comes in all these sexy forms. In bold but feminine shades like the fiery Dragon to the more demure but not-to-be-muted Rose Confidentiel.

Available at Rustan’s Department stores.

Black beauty

Pond’s reveals its little black beauty secret with a new product that gives you pure skin, Pond’s Pure White Facial Foam. It contains activated carbon, an ingredient proven to easily absorb impurities. The facial foam cleanses away dirt, oil and makeup that accumulate deep within the skin’s pores, lifting dead skin cells and helping to reduce blemishes to reveal your natural white skin. Popular in various industries as an effective purifier, this ingredient is obtained from heating natural and organic substances such as nut shells, wood and charcoal from bamboo. When heated, or “activated,” carbon becomes more porous thereby increasing its ability to absorb impurities.
