Celebrated design personalities take a shot

FROM COFFEE TO COCKTAILS - Celine Lopez -

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I really hate starting a story with a clichéd quote. However, for this exhibit of seasoned visual artists, it becomes an interesting saying.

Star’s Igan d’ Bayan has one of the biggest fan bases in the lit world for his subversive look at modern pop-culture that appeals to varied demographics. It also happens he is a fêted visual artist who always sells out every exhibit. For him, beauty can be found in a tragic entry of rotten roses mourning the loss of justice or a furious burst of lights scribbling a calm evening sky.

For celebrity stylist and prolific blogger Jenni Epperson, beauty is being a child at heart, spirit much embodied by her daughter Aryanna.

For Ino Caluza, you can take in sharp graphic lines, straightforward black and white tones and a French cinema new wave vibe. Beauty is being sexy in confident strides.

All were captured using the NX10, the first in a new generation of digital cameras from Samsung. Stories told and thoughts will be revealed at the North Court of the Power Plant Mall until Aug. 15 using the innovative camera from Samsung.

Igan D’Bayan utilizes the versatility of the NX10 in both colored and black-and-white images. He also toyed with the NX10’s shutter speed to shoot “Skywriting by Word of Light,” and captured in great detail a dried-up bouquet (“Power, Corruption & Lies”), a labyrinth of roots on a tree. D’Bayan pronounces the NX10 “handy, easy to use, and an essential instrument for art,” a succinct testament to his gothic images that say many things.

“The power of photography is in creating a certain mood through the use of available lights, good composition and a perfect subject,” fashion designer Ino Caluza shares. “When all these aspects are in good harmony, that certain amount of balance will eventually achieve great images.”  He uses fluid movement executed while wearing his garments.

Jenni professes a love for Japanese curios. Epperson expressed her saccharine ardor using acidic tones while using the NX10’s multi-shutter feature and her 14-year-old daughter Aryanna as her subject. In Cosplay mode, Aryanna dances and jumps on still paper. Jenni, being the ultimate behind-the-scenes woman, shoots the photographs that appear in her website www.jenniepperson.com and blog ichigoandbuko.blogspot.com, and is the better half of professional photographer Tom.

“If you’re looking to upgrade your camera, this is one of the best to use. It’s easy to figure out and the learning curve is low,” Jenni enthuses.

Everyone can unleash their inner Nick Knight, Chuck Close or Diane Arbus with this easy-to-use and infinitely creative camera. Available in noble black and titan silver, the Samsung NX10 has the capabilities of a professional camera inside the compact frame of a digital camera. The NX10 features a large three-inch AMOLED screen, offering easier viewing even in bright sunshine and at acute viewing angles, thus freeing users from the need to shield the screen with their hand. Its smart range feature likewise allows the user to vividly express both bright areas and dark areas in the same frame, and the supersonic dust reduction system keeps those dust particles clear of the image sensor that can often impair an image. It even senses when the user brings the camera close to their face to look through the viewfinder, and puts the AMOLED screen on standby to conserve power. An HD movie recording feature allows users to immortalize events and images in video format.

In the age of smart phones and smart vitamins, let’s welcome the ultimate smart camera.
