Filipina beauties
One of the great advantages of having the world suddenly become so small is the broadening of the definition of beauty.
Back in the day, being beautiful in the Philippines meant you were mestiza — a half breed with almost no physical traits of a regular Filipina girl.
Now, though, there isn’t even a definition for what a regular Filipina girl should look like.
We now come in so many beautiful shapes, shades and sizes.
In celebration of our diverse beauty, we tapped Ara Fernando of Guerlain to give us a step-by-step guide on how to celebrate our multi-faceted Filipina beauty.
Big eyes and bright skin
1. Prep and prime skin with Guerlain Skincare.
2. Apply Parure Pearly White Fluid in #02 to create a luminous base and finish with Meteorites Pearls 01 Teint Rose, pearls/balls in a jar or in compact to set the base without losing the “glowing” effect.
3. Contour face using a darker shade.
4. Color eyes with a combination of pink and brown shades for subtle definition.
5. Swipe on two coats of volumizing mascara.
6. Brush on a light pink blush with a hint of warm shimmer for a subtle glow.
7. Finally, swipe on a light pink, neutral lipstick like Summer Meteorites 2010 KissKiss Baby Cherry Summer for a girly finish.
Sophisticated pink
1. Prep and prime skin with Guerlain Skincare like Meteorites Perles Light Diffusing Perfecting Primer.
2. Apply Parure Pearly White Fluid in #01 and finish with Parure Pearly White Compact in #01 for even, glowing skin.
3. Contour face using the Terracotta 4-Season Bronzer in #01 using the same number “3” technique as above: starting from the temples, curving into the cheekbones and finishing off at the jawline.
4. Color eyes with Guerlain Eyeshadow #408, simply apply the pink shade on the inner corners of the eye and enhance the contour of the eye with the dark purple shade. Line eyes with eyeliner and finish with two coats of mascara.
5. Give cheeks a pinkish glow with Blush Eclat #07.
6. Give lips and instant boost with Rouge G # B61.
Golden Girl
1. Prep and prime skin with a good moisturizer. You can try Orchidee Imperiale Fluid moisturizer from Guerlain.
2. Apply Terracotta 2010 Fluid Teint all over the face and neck, adjusting the amount to the kind of bronze look you want.
3. Contour face with the Terracotta 2010 4-Season Bronzer, creating a “3” starting from the temples then moving beneath the cheekbones, and across the jawline.
4. Add depth to eyes with a shimmery brown color and line with eyeliner. Emphasize lashes with a black mascara like Le2 Volume Laque.
5. Use Terracotta 2010 Light Bronze Powder in 02 to add flush to your cheeks.
6. Finish with Terracotta 2010 Gloss in 04 on your lips.
