Slinky silhouettes spell summer

TALK SHOP - Anne Bella -

Finding quality, fashion-forward and affordable garments can prove to be quite a challenge nowadays. Such items usually have a high price tag and when you’re the type who must wear the “It” one-shoulder top or tulip skirt, it isn’t easy parting with your hard-earned cash for something that’s not going to last two seasons. That’s why The Ramp at Crossings is such a shopping mecca for everything trendy and classic investment pieces. From frilly and flirty party dresses to crisp suits, statement shoes, chandelier earrings and bib necklaces, it practically has what every girl dreams of and needs. Their summer fashion show showcased that variety and much more. Nine of their in-house brands paraded their summer collection to an impressive showing of editors, stylists and friends last April 29 at the TriNoma Activity Center. It was also the introduction of their latest endorser, Andi Eigenmann of Agua Bendita fame.

Most of the spring-summer ’10 trends were present: brights, nautical, swim, prints, short hemlines and the ubiquitous statement shoe. Faith Hope Love went the structured route with belted mini dresses and pencil skirts with a rather conservative color palette. Wildflower, known for its flamboyant colors and designs, stayed true to their aesthetic with super bright dresses in draped jersey paired with equally blinding neon tights. Mundo, the lone menswear brand, went the minimalist route with sleek and slim polo shirts and pants, vests and jackets that looked more at home in the streets of Milan than Manila. Nonetheless, it was a fresh take on the usual metrosexual garb that can be limiting to just club wear. Pill successfully played with the nautical theme showcasing striped separates in tank tops, shorts and bikinis. Missology’s casual cool combinations put a new spin on weekend wear, while United Pop, the brainchild of designer Richie Ortega, once more wowed the audience with pretty embellished belted dresses in her signature jewel tones. Amber did their own interpretations of sequins and Grecian dresses but with a quiet and more dignified approach. The Ramp went all-out edgy, making denim shorts club-appropriate and putting faux feathers to good use by fashioning them into a flamboyant but gorgeous skirt. Possibility supplied the fab footwear: spot-on trendy statement shoes, booties, wedges and sandals that were enough to make everyone salivate and rush to get their pair. As Andi walked down the runway, it was apparent that the brand made the right choice. She looked effortlessly beautiful, confident and most importantly, her age.
