Glam it up for the holidays
You may easily gain 10 pounds within the first few blasts of Christmas parties, and you may find that you no longer can squeeze yourself into that dress you purchased just last weekend. Sigh, the perils of the holiday season.
But you can still look fab — and in tune — with the season’s latest trends in beauty. New cosmetics lines Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) and Graftobian both boast HD (high-definition) technology that gives the highest quality of flawlessness. They were originally created to be used in front of the camera in the advent of HDTV, but still light enough for everyday usage. With just a few strokes of imagination (armed with a bold new attitude — ditch the safe pinks and nudes!), you will definitely become a standout despite having to wear a dress that is so four seasons ago.
Back to the ’80s
Scary as it may seem, trends from the horrific 80s have come back in a more wearable, very now and slightly subtle way (think strong shoulders, dhoti pants and long-strapped bags).
In the beauty front, we revive the strong eye matching the strong lip look, but made a few revisions to make it subtler.
On the eyes, you may use gray eyeshadow on the lids to the creases and blend it really well to soften the look.
Use metallic gold shadow on the area under the brow bone to make the eyes stand out.
Brush on matte light pink blush on the cheeks, and follow with a bright red color on the lips.
Line Up
For those who want to put major focus on the eyes, this is your season.
Arm yourself with a dark brown or black liner and just trace the upper and lower rims of your eyes.
Just make sure to stay as close as you can to the lash line to really open up the eyes.
Curl lashes and apply loads of mascara.
Lighten the brows with a light blond or brown brow gel (you may get these at MAC), brush on pale pink color on the cheeks and finish the look with pale lipstick.
Very dominatrix.
Gilt Trip
When you say “Christmas,” what comes to mind is anything and everything with glitter and dazzle.
You may definitely look the part, but you don’t need to blend in and look like the décor.
For a subtle holiday look, we used a light wash of shimmery gold shadow all over the lids.
Skip the liner, but you may overdose on coats of mascara on the upper and lower lashes.
Thicken the brows with light brown shadow and blend well.
Dust the cheeks lightly with bronzer and finish off with pale lips to intensify the look.
