Dress to express
“Right now I find myself getting inspiration from fashion blogger, photographer, illustrator and Parisian street style maven Garance Dore. I’m also loving the new Radio Montecarlo album which I listen to when I am just relaxing at home.” So says Mich Araullo, the 22-year-old designer who’s slowly making a name for herself in the business. The design major, who studied her craft at DLS-CSB School of Design and Arts, joined the bazaar circuit shortly after her friends began ordering clothes from her.
Earning her stripes on the selling floor allowed her to hone her business skills — as well as her design sensibilities.
“I really enjoy dressing up and experimenting with different looks and colors, depending on my mood and on the occasion. I love classic pieces like a crisp white shirt or a basic slip dress, which can serve as my canvas to play around and accessorize with,” she says.
For this collection, she worked with slinky jerseys and structured linens to create dresses that can go from lunch to party. Think linen wrap dress with a deep décolleté or a strapless bubble dress with demure pleats along the bodice.
Best of all, they all come with price tags that won’t make you wince. Her RTW retails for P1,500 to P3,000, while custom-made pieces go for P3,000 to P6,000.
