STYLE FINDER - Vicky Tensuan -

It’s a funny situation, this thing called retail therapy. The recession may be upon us, but there’s no stopping consumers from letting go of their hard-earned pesos just for a taste of that feeling that will subconsciously (more like forcibly) make us feel better. More so the hardcore fashionista. She may not be shopping as much, but she would rather make investment purchases that will take her a long way — a smart move, if I do say so. Needless to say, new stores have been opening shop in these tentative times, all in the hopes of bringing something new to consumers.

Located at the second floor of the ever-so-swanky Greenbelt 5, Lyn is a Thai-based shoe haven carrying every possible pair imaginable. From shoes with structured heels, sole-padded flats and sandals with intricate gold or silver designs to the ever-reliable but extremely sexy classic pumps, everything you try on instantly connotes eternal chic. Naturally, the store also carries bags from clutches in natural fibers to summer and work totes, as well as watches and shades.

Lyn’s spring/summer 2009 collection is centered on four main themes: Future Form (heels and platforms from mesh to plastic materials in black, nudes and gray with splashes of neon and architectural heels); ‘70s Glamazons (gladiators and heels with tribal influences and those in suede, metallic and tanned leather); Fetish (peep-toe boots with metallic ornaments like studs, chains, lace and multi-straps that crawl onto the legs); and, of course, Mother Earth (simple, more commercial styles in pastel and nude hues).

Now let us all do our part: let us help the economy.
