Shop your closet

JACKIE O' FLASH - Bea J. Ledesma -

If you’re too concerned with your flat-lining bank account to enjoy the spring/summer trends, not to worry. You don’t have to thumb your nose at all things fashion-related just because you’re cash-strapped. Cliché it may be but shopping your own closet is often answer enough for any wardrobe concerns you may be having.

Even folks who don’t fall under the category of clothes horse can find plenty to pick from. We’ve worked with basics you might have for any wardrobe and worked in a few trends through key accessories (which you can opt to purchase or make yourself). Even wearing something differently can result in a different look. Now, before you shake your head at my hapless advice, thinking “what else is there to do with a basic white tank?” give me the benefit of the doubt and check out the accompanying photos. And if you still aren’t sold, you can always buy those P10 sachets of color and tie-dye your top. After all, ombre is back. And that’s just a fancy word for what I used to do to my clothing in the ’90s — well, until my mother discovered all the other clothes I’d ruined in the process of learning how to work with dyes. That may have spelled the end of what could’ve been a burgeoning career in the world of tie-dye fashions (Prada, watch out), but it doesn’t mean you can’t take the cheap and chic route that is arts and crafts.
