Walking on air
MANILA, Philippines - At the height of the ‘80s, a crew of underground artists, skateboarders and punks had formed what we now call skurban lifestyle, a mash of skate, BMX and hip-hop built on black rockin’ beats, graffiti and a yen for all things raw and creative.
In 1993, OG skateboarders Rodney Smith, Eli Morgan Gassner and Adam Schatz teamed up to found the East Coast’s first true skateboarding-inspired lifestyle brand Zoo York. The trio siphoned creative inspiration from NYC’s rapidly evolving scene.
Today, hoodies, fly footwear and graffiti-etched tees have become part of the sartorial vernacular, proving that everything underground must come up.
Zoo York is available at 4/f Atrium at SM Megamall B, 2/f TriNoma, 2/f Robinsons Manila Padre Faura wing and SM Mall of Asia.
