MANILA, Philippines - Just when you think the crazy days are over comes another series of unfortunate events that, well, isn’t so bad after all. Starting today, the live-action adaptation of Daniel Handler’s bestselling novels Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events will be available on Netflix.
The first season is made up of eight one-hour-long episodes that bring us back to the good old days of sinking our teeth into the action-packed tale of the Baudelaire orphans. Remember those late nights we spent binging on all 13 books of the series? Chances are, we already know what’s going to happen in this dark yet funny series. But don’t worry, there are a lot of great things that come with this digital reboot.
For one, Neil Patrick Harris is playing the role of Count Olaf, the creepy villain we all love to hate. Another thing to be excited about is being able to watch the series anytime and anywhere. We’ll take every chance we can to catch up on our fave shows and sometimes, that means actually enjoying being stuck in our daily commute. With Netflix now allowing us to download episodes on our mobile devices, keeping up with Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire will finally be more convenient than carrying multiple books from the series in our backpacks. (Don’t worry, we’ve all been there.) But if you’re feeling nostalgic, all eight episodes will be ready for binge watching as they all come out on the same day.
The struggle of streaming with a Third World Internet is real. But with Globe Broadband’s 10mbps speeds, we can finally have the Netflix and chill sesh of our dreams with our childhood barkada without the hassle. Lastly, did I mention that Neil Patrick Harris is in it?
There are many instances in our everyday lives that we could consider a “series of unfortunate events,” but streaming our favorite series shouldn’t be one of them. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some binge watching to do.
