Halftime, showtime

MANILA, Philippines – Bring out the beers, ready the bets and round up the gang. One of America’s most anticipated sporting events is coming, and the rest of us non-football fans are just as hyped for the pop culture gold that is the halftime performance. This year, the Super Bowl is celebrating its 50th anniversary and we’re expecting the Pepsi-sponsored production to break its own record of awesomeness. So far, we know that British band Coldplay is headlining the performance. Previous halftime performers Beyoncé and Bruno Mars are also set to go onstage along with other unconfirmed special guests. It’s also staged to be in line with NFL’s “On the Fifty” campaign, which is about celebrating the past, present and future. In typical Coldplay fashion, it’s safe to say that it will be all sorts of trippy. (Laser lights and stadium choral singing? Yes, please.) But then again, it’s Super Bowl Halftime. Even the production team can’t tell what will happen within the 15 minutes that they go live. But hey, we can always dream, right?
