Maine Manalansan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - We’re about to hit the last trimester of the year and, the next thing you know, fireworks will be filling the skies and people will be greeting you a Happy New Year. 2015 should be great and all, but it will make us a year older and, hopefully, wiser. It also brings us closer to leaving our parents’ nest and living on our own. Those who have already moved out know that it’s not easy trying to make it alone. It’s better to start learning a few basic survival skills, like cooking, while you’re still young and under your parents’ supervision (just so you don’t accidentally set things on fire).

When you step inside the kitchen, don’t let the pots and pans intimidate you. Cooking doesn’t always involve boning a duck or creating a perfectly rolled California Maki. We asked Gab Bustos and Thea de Rivera, both 22 years old, of the young and hip restaurant The Girl + the Bull to create an illustrated guide to making Baked Brie with honey and walnuts. It’s simple, classy and very easy to make. It’s perfect for lazy Sunday afternoons or for celebrations such as the housewarming of your future straight-out-of-Pinterest apartment.
