MANILA, Philippines - The Ateneo Communications Technology Management (ACTM) organization claims to have thrown what might just be the summer kickstarter party of the year, and after what went down at this year’s Verge last March 1, they might not be far from the truth.

Already in its second year, Verge populated the Liquid Bar in Manila Ocean Park with smiley Ateneans and equally eager students from other local universities. Japanese lifestyle brand Uniqlo headlined the party with a fashion show. Local DJs Rammy Bitong, Paolo Halili, Katsy Lee, Mecha Hell, and DMA kept the party mood going as much as the free-flowing drinks did. And because there just can’t be too much of a good thing, the whole party was cloaked in UV lights and foam, a reminder of a white-hot summer that’s sure to come. While many other parties have been forced to eat their own big words, ACTM’s claim that Verge was the summer party of the year might be closer to cool than it actually thinks. — Margarita Buenaventura
