The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Who’s in for another round of rock?

Lee Jeans and San Miguel Flavored Beer proudly present “Bazooka Rocks II,” the second installment of the indoor and air-conditioned pop-punk festival that blew the minds of young pop-rock-punk fans last 2012. To be held on Aug. 25, Sunday at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, this year’s edition will be bigger with the inclusion of eight international bands: American acts All Time Low, Anberlin, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, We Came as Romans, A Rocket to the Moon, RadioDriveBy, Australian band Tonight Alive, and Uchuu Sentai Noiz from Japan. They’ll also be joined by three of the country’s most promising young bands: Penguin, Faintlight, and Save Me Hollywood.

All Time Low is an American pop-punk band that has emerged as a headliner in many of the world’s biggest and most high-profile music festivals worldwide such as the “Warped Tour” and “Soundwave.” They are also known for hits such as Somewhere in Neverland and Weightless. Anberlin is a hard alternative rock band who had a sold-out show in Manila onMarch 9, 2011. They are currently touring in support of their latest album “Vital,” distributed locally by Pulp Live Records. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is a versatile American rock band who can do hard pop-rock (Face Down) as well as tender sentimental songs (Your Guardian Angel0).

Melodic metal-core act We Came as Romans is the heaviest act on the BRF 2013 bill, but they have captured the hearts of kids worldwide with hits such as To Move on Is to Grow and Mis/Understanding. They are returning to Manila after their widely-accepted performance at “PULP Summer Slam 2012: The Apostles.” Their third full-length album “Tracing Back Roots” will be released locally and distributed at all branches of Astrovision nationwide by PULP Live Records. A Rocket to the Moon is a pop-rock band that was signed under the same record label as the likes of Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Fun. and Paramore, among many others. They are widely popular among Filipino teens because of touching sentimental songs such as Ever Enough and Like We Used to. They’ll be performing in Manila for the last time as the band recently announced that they will be disbanding after their tour.

To add more flavor to BRF II, Japanese band Uchuu Sentai Noiz will bring their brand of colorful and zany J-Rock to the biggest Manila stage they’ve ever performed in. The band first got major attention from all over Asia with their rendition of the Kamikazee hit Narda. The official music video of their cover has turned the visual kei band into certified YouTube sensations, garnering over a million hits in less than year.
