‘High school never ends’ vs. ‘It gets better’
MANILA, Philippines - It’s supposed to be “the best years of your lifeâ€â€”a monumental pressure for any kid feeling just a little out of place and a little unsure. When you’re the queen bee, the star athlete, prom royalty, or batch siga, it’s easy. For four years, you lord over the high school caste system, your awkward teenage years the proverbial walk in the park. But for the legions of kids who aren’t? It’s tough and sometimes it feels like forever. Does high school ever end? A recent New York magazine article says it doesn’t but at Young Star, we beg to differ. Just think of Taylor Swift, Lena Dunham, Justin Timberlake—current kings and queens of the cultural food chain but misfits and losers in high school. It got better for them, it’ll get better for you. Besides, the way we see it, the real worst thing that can happen to you? Peaking in high school.
