Put your hands up for a cause

MANILA, Philippines - Bartering is an age-old practice that dates back even further than the Roman Empire and the Silk Road. But when the trading expands to not only the exchange of goods but also human beings, that is where the line between ethics and making a profit must be drawn. Together with illegal drugs and arms, human trafficking is one of the top-three largest criminal industries in the world, as revealed by The Body Shop and ECPAT as part of its campaign to raise awareness of the scale and prevalence of the trade in human lives.

With its heritage for campaigning on important issues of the day, The Body Shop “Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People” campaign is a global partnership with ECPAT International (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children For Sexual Purposes), and they believe that a key step towards stopping the trade is to raise public support and participation which, in turn, encourages governments to take action and effect change.

In addition to raising awareness of the issue, the “Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People” campaign also seeks to help those requiring immediate support by raising vital funds. The Soft Hands, Kind Heart Hand Cream, with one sold globally every 30 seconds, are also back in stores. The proceeds from the hand cream are being used to help change the lives of millions of children and young people through the direct work of ECPAT groups globally.
