'Speak Up! Listen Up!'
MANILA, Philippines - The Ateneo Center for English Language Teaching (ACELT), in cooperation with the British Council’s Teachers Club, announces its 43rd bi-annual conference “Speak Up! Listen Up! Speaking and Listening Skills in the Classroom” to be held on Sunday, Feb. 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Leong Hall Auditorium, Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.
The conference aims to provide teachers with dynamic activities that strengthen the speaking and listening skills of their students. Debates, theater, pronunciation games, and dramatic techniques invigorate the classroom, as well as help students become more confident and articulate in the English language. The workshops will explain the principles for managing these activities as well as demonstrate how to implement them successfully.
Keynote speaker is Mark Vincent Escaler, former chair and assistant professor in the Department of Communication of the Ateneo de Manila University. He will speak on “Communication Competency and the Classroom.”
Early bird registration (before Feb. 13) and group of five discount is P1,300; Teacher’s Club member’s discount is P1,000 while walk-in registration is P1,600. Fees are inclusive of lunch, two snacks, certificate, handouts, and a copy of the latest ACELT Journal.
