A good day of play
MANILA, Philippines - Nicksters had the slime of their lives as they ran, romped, jumped, trekked, twisted, climbed and slid in a super-active afternoon of play. In short, they got up, got out and “just played” the day away! Held at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, the recently concluded “Let’s Just Play” event gathered almost 6,000 kids and kids-at-heart for an afternoon of slime, grime and Nickified fun!
All the kids were given Nick loot bags and water squirters, while the first 1,000 kids even snagged special Let’s Just Play 2009 T-shirts! They were welcomed by friendly characters like Tigo, Koko, Sammy Strawberry and Greta Grape, among others. Onstage, poi twirlers from Planetzips opened the program with an exciting number. Then play masters Robbie and Monica spearheaded the stage games such as the Madagascar Penguin Waddle, Super Sponge Plunge, Tug of Four, Hop N’ Pop, Fairly OddPrints and Hoops N’ Hurdles. Other exciting games played at the special play area included iCarly’s iRun for Fun, Barnyard Gallop, Dora’s Centipede March and the Let’s Just Play Obstacle race. Winners or not, all the game participants brought home cool prizes from Nickelodeon and the event sponsors. Plus, several raffles were done in between the games and lucky Nicksters also got to bring home Nickelodeon goodies. Offstage, Nicksters got their Nick on at the various play stations across the venue such as Tire Twister, Walk ‘n Weave, the Ready, Set, Goo and the A-Maze-Ing Race. Nicksters who came with friends and family had fun “sliming” one another with their squirters especially when refills were available at Jimmy Neutron’s Juice Joint. Each time the siren sounded, it was “slime time” and everyone got busy “dunking some gunk.”
Aang of Avatar dropped by to join in the messy fun just before the day ended in a jet of sparks and the signature orange confetti blast.
“Let’s Just Play” was a Nickelodeon pro-social initiative dedicated to empowering kids to engage in healthy, active lifestyles.
