Fashion fever at the Shang
MANILA, Philippines - Fashion took center stage at Shangri-La Plaza recently, as it hosted a series of free workshops for customers and patrons.
Mall-goers were treated to four one-hour-long seminars conducted by instructors from the School of Fashion and the Arts (SoFA) on the topics of visual merchandising, fashion illustration, basic draping and embellishment.
The seminar series started off with visual merchandising taught by Dustin Reyes. The series was on the basics of fixing displays, spacing, accents and the aesthetics of working in a given space. A seminar on fashion illustration under Danilo Franco followed with focus on anatomy and color.
Christine Benet taught the basic draping workshop. This involved lessons on developing the fundamental silhouettes of a skirt, blouse, bodice and collar — all with the use of tried-and-tested draping and pattern-making methods. The afternoon was concluded with a seminar on Embellishment headed by instructor Aan Pineda, where participants learned the techniques and principles behind clothes and bag embellishments.
The workshop is the culmination of the weeklong exhibit that showcased the SoFA students’ works. Watch out for more fashion forward activities that enhance your shopping experience at the Shang.
