Manny Pangilinan signals the future of TV viewing
MANILA, Philippines - Do you want to know the future of TV viewing? We did, so we went to the launching of Cignal, Manny V. Pangilinan’s latest project.
The launch of Cignal at the NBC Tent in The Fort coincided with the 63rd birthday of Pangilinan, or “MVP,” as he is fondly called by all those who work with him. It was a night of celebrating for the hundreds of guests present. Wine flowed freely and food was plentiful as the crowd was entertained by the Sabado Boys and Sabor Latino.
The hosts of the night were Paolo Bediones and Vicki Belo.
“This is the first time ever that Vicki has hosted a show,” said Paolo Bediones. “It is such an important night because we are going to witness the future of TV viewing here.”
“This marks a significant milestone for the Philippine television industry,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman, Mediascape. “Cignal with its Cignal HD and Cignal Digital TV is the most aggressive initiative thus far to bring digital television to more Filipinos all over the country. We are once more at the cutting edge of innovation, offering the next generation of advanced services to our people.”
In his short speech that evening, MVP noted that what Cignal will do is to figuratively and literally change the way we see things. TV viewing will no longer be just watching, but pulling the viewer into the scene and creating a new viewing experience.
“Tonight we are convinced that we are at the edge of another revolution,” added Pangilinan. “We are confident about Cignal’s success. Because once you’ve tried digital, you will never go back to analog — as what you’ve done in the case of the mobile phone.”
