Who drew on my car?

MANILA, Philippines - Take a Honda Jazz Car as a canvas. Add artist collective WeeWillDoodle. What do you get? The possibility of driving off in Yahoo! Purple Hunt’s one-of-a-kind grand prize — purple artwork on wheels!

Yahoo!’s purple trail for treasure hunters are littered with such treats, including purple Krispy Kreme donuts, Canon digital cameras, and Blackberry mobile phones especially designed by Pinoy artists. Weewilldoodle’s artists in particular “believe in, respect, and plan to harness the raw power of spontaneous ideas and capture them in different mediums, creating sound masterpieces,” shared group representative Paolo Ferrer.

He added, “WeeWillDoodle is psyched to be a part of Project Purple. Like Yahoo!, our group is all about being creative, expressing yourself, and trying to make a positive effect on the world by sharing who you really are. So it’s kind of like meeting a new friend and discovering that you two share the exact same interests. It’s all about creating and collaborating. Yahoo! gives us Pinoys the means to do both.”

The Honda Jazz as “canvas” is the first project of its kind for both the artists group and for Honda. “The Power of Dreams” is Honda’s guiding principle in the way it operates as a business. Sharing this same vision as the Yahoo! Project Purple, both brands seek to empower the passions of the Filipino people and encourage them to act on their aspirations.

“Weewilldoodle is honored to be the creative team chosen to render the artwork on the grand prize,” Ferrer said. “We’ve never doodled on a car before!”

Since the hunt’s launch last June 2, treasure hunters have been accessing the Yahoo! Purple Hunt microsite, accessible via the Yahoo! Philippines front page (www.yahoo.com.ph) to solve online clues for finding items around Metro Manila.

“The Purple Hunt, which runs until July 25, is part of Yahoo!’s Project Purple, a social movement open to everyone — online and offline. We are rallying Pinoys to be ‘purple’ and utilize the Internet to be even more creative, innovative and expressive,” said Jojo Anonuevo, general manager, Yahoo! Philippines. “The Internet and Yahoo! have become essential services to people and a great equalizer for people to expand their horizons,” he added.

Ferrer said, “Weewilldoodle and Yahoo! share the same interests in powering Pinoy passions through a collective, collaborative and cutting-edge medium. As artists, and as providers of digital technologies, Yahoo! and Weewilldoodle stand alongside the road to empowering the Philippines as a nation with abundant blessings. We support Yahoo! in both the online and offline Purple Hunt as this has mobilized many untapped talented Filipinos to come together.”

Purple is Yahoo!’s corporate color which reflects the company’s brand personality and philosophy of innovation, uniqueness, creativity and passion. “With this campaign, Yahoo! aims to call out to all Filipinos who share this same vision to bring innovation and a positive change in the Philippines,” Anonuevo said. “As the catalyst for Project Purple, Yahoo! empowers Filipinos through Internet services that enable them to pursue their passions.”

Through a creative mix of online and offline initiatives, Yahoo! Project Purple brings awareness to the things Filipinos are passionate about and how they can be found on Yahoo!. “The social movement started in the United States with the ‘Start Wearing Purple’ campaign. We are happy to bring this to the Philippines — the very first country outside the US where there are millions of creative, innovative and passionate Pinoys. Today, Yahoo! is excited to connect the country in this campaign and we expect many more to join us in the coming weeks,” Anonuevo added.

Joining this social movement are top Philippine and global companies as well as popular Pinoy artists. These Purple partners include: Ayala Land, Inc., BlackBerry, Canon Philippines, Globe Telecom, Honda Philippines, Krispy Kreme Philippines, and Nestle Philippines. Participating local artists are: Aaron Roselo, Anjo Bolarda, Bjornik, Beth Parrocha-Doctolero, Christian Tamondong, Paul Imbong, and WeeWillDoodle.
