Soaking up in sponge-y, slimy summer fun!
MANILA, Philippines - It was a yellow-letter day when almost 9,000 kids came with their families and friends to kick off the year-long celebration of SpongeBob’s 10th anniversary at the recently concluded “SpongeBob & The Big Wave Party”!
Held at the Bonifacio Global City Open Field, it brought together all high-spirited fans to salute the sponge-y superstar. A tidal wave of a party included underwater-themed game stations, inflatables and other activities that entertained both kids and kids at heart. From the fun photo-taking frenzy at the Jack Kahuna Laguna Island Photowall (where kids of all ages had their photos taken riding waves with Patrick Star or with Jack Kahuna Laguna) to game station-hopping along with sea creatures on stilts, kids really got their Nick on!
Pinoy Nicksters got a splash ahead of the rest with an exclusive advance screening of “SpongeBob and The Big Wave.” In this super special episode, kids followed SpongeBob’s new and exciting adventure with Patrick and Squidward as they struggle in a mysterious island that nobody has ever been able to leave. With the help of a cool surfin’ dude, the mysterious Jack Kahuna Laguna (voiced by Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp!), the gang learns that the only way out is to surf a gigantic wave called “The Big One.”
Meanwhile, kids played the whole day at the Bouncing Sandcastle and with the Big Wave Slide inflatables while the Buganda group entertained them with captivating tribal beats throughout the program. They also challenged themselves, Nick-style, at the exciting game stations such as Surf & Slime Body Bowling, Sea Monkey Bars, Mrs. Puff’s Memory Madness, Save Our SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs’ Kash Korner; Muscle Beach, SpongeBob SplashPants and The Coloreef.
And since no Nick event is ever complete without getting a little bit of slime and grime, kids washed off and enjoyed the power of shower at the SpongeBob’s Shower Shack.
Kids shrieked with delight when their sponge-y superhero SpongeBob SquarePants, along with best buddy Patrick Star, came all the way from Bikini Bottom to join the mess fest!
