A-listers in Boracay

- Cecile Golez -

MANILA, Philippines - It’s a well-known fact that Boracay is the ultimate summer destination for vacation goers every Holy Week, thanks to the yearly four-day long weekend. However, those who refuse to face the maddening crowd during this time normally opt to book their flights on the succeeding long weekend, which always falls on Labor Day (May 1). Here, the number of people running around on the beach is more forgiving, and there are fewer chances of prowling Station 2 endlessly looking for a restaurant with an available table. There are also tons of events and parties, without having to worry about being squashed in a crowd or rubbing elbows with a complete stranger. Indeed, it comes as no surprise that quite a number of people, including celebrities and some high-profile personalities, choose to come to Boracay during this time.

Not one to let a good crowd pass them by, Attica Bar and Lounge in Manila brought to Boracay a two-day party series entitled “The A-List Party” held at Discovery Shores last May 1 and 3. As one of the more popular and trendier bars in the A-Venue Complex along Makati Ave, Attica has gained a reputation for bringing in a crowd that includes Manila’s stylish set, which appears to be the case once again for this fun-filled occasion in Boracay.

Both “A-List” parties began just around sunset and featured DJs Switchtrik and DTech, the duo responsible for the upbeat hip hop and R&B music during Play Tuesdays, one of Attica’s more popular nights. Guests found themselves grooving to old school beats and enjoying the free-flowing drinks courtesy of Chivas and Absolut. Drinking games — which included two teams downing Attica’s famous Mucho Margarita as fast as they could — had the rest of the partygoers going wild as they rooted for their friends. For those not aware, the Mucho Margarita is probably the biggest cocktail you’ll ever drink alone as it normally comes with 10 straws and requires two hands to actually carry the glass, and whose contents can easily amount to about three or more bowls of soup thrown together.

Spotted at the party were several celebrities and other A-listers that included Kat Alano, Bernard and Miko Palanca, Rachel Alejandro, Nanette Medved-Po, JM Rodriguez, John Avila, Victor Basa and JR Isaac.

The A-List Party was made in partnership with Chivas, Absolut, Discovery Shores Boracay, Seair, Volvo and Crocs. Media partners UNO, Mega Publishing Group, Circuit and MTV.
