It's not too late to shine this summer!

-

MANILA, Philippines - Don’t think that summer is almost over, we’re only halfway there. Summer is the time to bask under the sun, but heat and humidity can also cause damage to the hair. Heat saps strands of its natural oils and dehydrates your hair. When the weather is extreme, stay clear of its effects such as over-drying, split ends, and frizzy strands by taking extra care of your tresses. But don’t worry, keeping hair at its best — healthy and shiny — means just a few smart and simple steps to incorporate into your routine:

Cover up. The combination of sun, salt water and chlorine draws moisture out of the healthiest head of hair — colored hair is most susceptible. Donning a straw hat at the beach, a light sporty cap on the court, or a pretty cotton scarf at a BBQ party is still your best option for protecting your locks (and face) from the drying effects of the sun. Also, Cream Silk has a new Limited Edition Summer Shine variant that has UV Blockers that help protect hair from the sun’s dulling rays.

Wet, wet, wet. Protect your locks by dousing your hair under a quick shower before entering a pool or the ocean. Since the hair cuticle is like a sponge, it can only absorb so much water. The wetter the hair, the less salt water and chlorine it will absorb.

Condition daily. Keep your hair conditioned with Cream Silk Summer Shine, a limited-edition conditioner especially for the summer season. It contains Aqua Mineral Technology that restores moisture to dry hair. It also has UV Blockers that help protect hair from the sun’s dulling rays, plus a limited-edition perfume that keeps hair smelling fresh all day long.

Go natural. Use the weather as an excuse to let go of heating tools. If your scalp tends to be oilier in the summer, definitely avoid blow-drying with hot air as heat stimulates the scalp, encouraging the production of oil. This is the time to take to air-drying. Experiment with softer, tousled styles and enjoy the natural texture of your hair. For an added feminine look, twist the hair into braids while wet, and let loose after a while, for pretty, loose waves perfect for an outdoorsy look.

It’s not yet too late to shine all summer!
