Run and make kids happy
MANILA, Philippines - Do you need energy to be happy? The answer to this question is a resounding yes, as proven by the thousands that flocked to Fort Bonifacio on an early Sunday morning to participate in the much-anticipated Happy Run, sponsored by Enervon. Senior product manager of Enervon Sunshine Aquino asserts, “We are very excited to be a part of this Happy Run as it is an embodiment of the Enervon philosophy, which is that you need to exert energy to attain what makes you happy.”
Before the crack of dawn, a massive crowd of men, women and children, all geared up in their favorite running shoes to finish the 3k, 5k, and 10k runs. For some, this marathon was a test of endurance and stamina, while for others it was a great opportunity to bond with family and friends. Whichever the reason, everyone present was armed with loads of energy to run for a worthwhile cause.
The Happy Run is a charity project of host, entrepreneur and athlete Drew Arellano, together with TV personality Bianca Gonzales, Congresswoman Lani Cayetano and running events organizer Rio dela Cruz. The successful event managed to raise more than P400,000 to help finance much-needed classrooms and school facilities to benefit the kids of the Bagong Tanyag Elementary School Annex in Taguig. When asked about the meaning behind the name “Happy Run,” Drew answers, “I’m a happy boy who has lived a happy life. I felt it was time to give something back to the community. And given my very active and energetic lifestyle, this marathon was the perfect avenue to not only share my passion for running but to help build a brighter future for more children.”
Seen crossing the finish line with huge smiles on their faces were sporty couple Paolo and Suzi Abrera. “Paolo and I really enjoy running,” said Suzi. “We’re very active and do lots of high-energy activities as a family. Through this event, we’re able to run for a good cause — and that makes us very happy!”
Other energetic and happy personalities seen showing their support were tri-athlete Senator Pia Cayetano, Us Girls star Iya Villania, stunning actress Isa Calzado, former Bb. Pilipinas Carlene Aguilar, Lander Vera Perez and Regine Tolentino, together with their two daughters, Reigne and Reigen.
