We asked makeup artist Barbi Chan of Maybelline NY to come up with a guide for the perfect red shade for every skin tone. Read on and swipe on some scarlet.

Fair skin: “Red with blue undertones like berries and plums look great on cool skin.” Try Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Ruby Lustre.

Asian/Yellow skin: “Skin with yellow undertones look good in reds with warm undertones of orange.” Your best bets have a mix of orange and red or a bit of brown.

Morena skin: “Deep reds look good on morena skin,” says Barbi, so go for burgundy or wine shades to bring out your dusky skin tone. Try Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Amethyst Star for a mysterious red shade.
