Cellphone supernova
If you could only defy physics and fit everything in your pocket. These days you can get tired of carrying such a huge bag to fit tons of stuff — a mobile for calls and texts, a laptop for e-mails, music player for tunes, a digital camera, and a video camera for potential YouTube moments. Like having one’s personal genie inside a teeny-weeny lamp.
But thankfully, you can ditch them all for the latest Nokia cell phones, which can fit everything you possibly need in a sleek package. Just like the Nokia 2680 and and Nokia 7210 Supernova mobile phones designed for the youth market, which offer “features they need in the styles they want.”
The event had guests photographed at different face cutout booths where they could select which “personality” they most identified with — fashionista, music lover or sports fanatic — which were later on printed on shirts. Caricature artists drew portraits of the guests on journals and there was also a mini-fashion show with clothing provided by Bench.
“The Nokia 2680 slide and Nokia 7210 Supernova have what its users really need: a chance to wear their personalities on their sleeve,” said William Hamilton-Whyte, general manager of Nokia Philippines.
For those who want simplicity with style, the Nokia 7210 Supernova has a chic, slim design and is available in Bubble Gum Pink and Vivid Blue. Nokia 7210 supports tri-band GPRS and EDGE connectivity; the candy bar-shape of Nokia 7210 has a built-in camera to let you take great pictures at two-megapixel resolution and access to Flickr provides one-click access to share photos. It also has 30 MB of internal memory. With an SD flash memory card slot, favorite music and videos can be easily played and saved.
The Nokia 2680 Slide is another entry-level phone for Nokia — this one comes with a VGA camera. It also has a 65K color TFT display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels and has all essential features like Bluetooth, FM radio and MP3 ringtones. An e-mail client and GPRS/EDGE support are also supported. The Nokia 2680 Slide will be available in slate gray, night blue, orange and violet.
Two different mobiles, two different modes of expression.
Nokia chose Pinoy Big Brother housemate Robi Domingo as their youth ambassador for today’s generation who constantly make statements of self-expression and individuality through the things they do, the clothes they wear, the people they interact with, and the gadgets they use.
Whyte added, “Choosing Robi to take part in Nokia’s new campaign wasn’t a difficult decision. He exemplifies good moral values and serves as the perfect role model for today’s youth.”
Domingo said, “My phone has become a part of my everyday life. Whenever I accidentally leave my phone at home, I feel like my day is not complete. If you look at what I have in my phone, you’ll see that I’m fond of taking photos of my family and friends. Sometimes I take pictures of things for my school reports.”
With the Nokia 2680 slide and Nokia 7210 Supernova, users are able to easily snap fun moments with its built-in camera. When it comes to music, Robi also wants to stay on top of what’s in, while enjoying his own preferences. The Nokia 2680 slide and Nokia 7210 Supernova allows him to listen to music through the integrated MP3 player and FM radio. The Nokia 2680 slide also comes with an FM radio recorder, allowing him to record his favorite tunes for later listening.
“Sometimes I use my phone to check e-mail,” adds Robi. Users of the Nokia 2680 slide need not break a sweat with its easy e-mail setup. It only takes a few hassle-free steps to access e-mail — from going to the e-mail application under messaging and entering the username and password — for the user to check their e-mail inbox in Gmail or Yahoo. Robi also uses it to download ring tones, music, wallpapers, screensavers, and games.” Technologies like Bluetooth and MMS make sharing content easy, making sure that the user’s unique personality is never stuck on one phone.
Despite all the features packed into the Nokia 2680 slide and Nokia 7210 Supernova, Nokia believes that the most important part is the human experience. Robi agrees. “I really can’t remember when I wasn’t using a cell phone. Now I literally can’t live without one. I guess that’s proof of how much Nokia phones are part of my lifestyle.”
The Nokia 2680 slide and Nokia 7210 Supernova continue Nokia’s tradition of offering useful and stylish phones that do much more than you have your own digital genie ready to do your bidding.
