“Just when I got used to pouring myself into skinny jeans,” a friend groaned over lunch one day, “those wide-leg jeans come back to haunt my nightmares.”
Skinny jeans have become such a staple they sell it by the pack at your nearby supermarket.
OK, maybe not.
But the wardrobe staple — usually prone to one incarnation per decade — seems to have made a bargain with the gods of retail, furnishing us with more than a few styles to keep even the most slavish of trend-seekers occupied.
Wide-leg pants have been dominating the runway for the past few seasons, while remnants of the ‘90s (90210 remake, hello!) are still being felt. Just last week, Katie Cruise was spotted sporting baggy pants cuffed at the hem. MC Hammer pants (see Donna Cuna-Pita’s accompanying story on the trend on Page I-4) are also making a return, thanks to Cecile Van Straten’s local version for Viktor Jeans.
