Old problem, new solution

If you’re one of the sad few who caught the screening of Made of Honor over the weekend, let me begin by commiserating. That’s an hour and a half we’ll never get back. But if you did manage to catch Patrick Dempsey onscreen, Versace’s main man was practically unrecognizable in the opening scene when they flashback to Dempsey as a college undergrad. No special effects or trick casting made the Grey’s Anatomy star look that young. Yet there he was — sans wrinkles and creases.

Of course, it was makeup. Minutes later, there was Dempsey in real time, his brow impressively furrowed as he attempted to finesse his way out of the film’s retarded plot.

If only all of us could turn back time and erase the effects of aging. I’m not talking about laugh lines or the little crow’s feet that give our faces character but those deep wrinkles that add decades to the face.

Before you resort to foundation and spackle so thick it’ll take a construction crew to dig you out underneath all that makeup, the scientists who brought you StriVectin, the cult fave cellulite cream that caused a buying frenzy in the UK and the US, have cooked up something new that specifically targets deep wrinkles.

According to the product bio, “StriVectin-HS is a unique thermophyllic (heat-activated), penetrating formula specifically developed to enter the core of the Dermal-Epidermal Junction (DEJ) where deep wrinkles begin. The solution travels directly to the base of deep wrinkles, decompressing the look of sharp, visible creases.”

How does it work? StriVectin-HS was developed to support the integrity of the DEJ — the wavy, thin line of cells between the dermis and epidermis, and a critical area in the fight against wrinkles and aging. New research strongly suggests that as we age, the DEJ “flattens,” reducing overall surface area, weakening the bond between the dermis and epidermis, thus causing the formation of persistent, deep wrinkles. In other words, reducing the appearance of deep, sharp facial wrinkles is tied directly to fostering the structural integrity of the Dermal-Epidermal Junction.

The skincare process of this anti-aging wunderproduct isn’t as easy as slapping on a couple dollops of face cream. To be effective, users are required to use it twice daily until the results desired appear. Then a twice- or thrice-a-week regimen is necessary to maintain the effects.

For it to work, you need to apply StriVectin-HS with your fingertips directly to the most pronounced wrinkles at the corners of the eye, between the brow, around the lips and down the nasolabial folds (the deep lines that run from the edge of your nose to the corners of your mouth). Wait one to three minutes or until the serum becomes dry and slightly tacky to the touch. You must then soak a clean facecloth in hot (not scalding) water (wring out excess water) and hold it firmly to your face for 60 seconds or until the towel cools.

Try it out for a few weeks and see how it works out. You might not get the same results as, say, Patrick Dempsey’s young turn during Made of Honor’s opening credits, but StriVectin-HS’ followers claim that the results are amazing — which is far more than we can say for the movie.   — BL
