- Bea J. Ledesma -

Cue the opening bars of Fergie’s “Glamorous”, champagne popping, plush carpeting hugging the bottom of your five-inch heels and rail-thin sales assistants fawning over your every word. If we were to take our lead by every movie shopping montage ever filmed, it would probably look like this.

Unless you were shopping at one of the stores lining Greenbelt 4’s main walkway, I’d like to bet your shopping experience barely comes close to anything as fabulous as Sarah Jessica’s runway impersonations in her closet in the Sex and the City movie. (Beware: this is not the last SJP namecheck you will find in this issue.)

Shopping for luxury goods is often always a pleasure. You don’t just pay for the garment in question. The fancy lighting that accompanies the figure-flattering mirror, the pandering, the nice packaging — all the trappings that come with paying a check that could fund a couple semesters of college tuition are part of the package.

But wearing luxury items, well, that’s a whole other ballgame. Louis Vuitton’s spring-summer collection, which seems to be inspired by Working Girl (check out the pailette-encrusted skirt) and Stepford Wives, imparts just the right amount of starchy, upper-crust refinement the likes of Donatella Versace secretly covet.

If the kids of Gossip Girl have taught us anything, it’s, when in doubt, just look like an overindulged prepster with a trust fund. That was a joke, by the way.
