Sea, sand and style

- JR Isaac -

Armed and ready with style: this is the uniform for summer evenings as the ladies partied the night away in their most comfortable outfits. Not sacrificing fashion expression, dresses were both short and long with summery prints and bright colors for the beachcomber.  Shorts and miniskirts were also an obvious choice, giving the ladies freedom to move without feeling uncomfortable.  They also wore minimal accessories such as loop earrings, just enough to accent their outfits. Sling and native bags were the choices for hand-carrying — no fuss, still summery and stylish.

True Music Experience reverberated in Boracay as W Records hit the island. It’s not hard to spot where the hippest party is with two huge, lighted balloons marking the spot. Hyper-talented DJs performed for two nights laying down track after track of hypnotic beats. Piedra, together with Winston cigarettes, was also present to bring the celebration to another level. Guests also got to enjoy free-flowing booze provided by San Mig Light, Rene Barbier and Freixenet Cavas.

Lai Aguila

Lai, who works for IBM Business Services Inc., wore a sheer turquoise dress with an embellished bib from a boutique called HDY. She prefers to keep her style classic yet sexy and interesting. She also quips that she’s forever in summer mode. Her style icons are Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham.

Mela de Luna

Manual magazine’s style editor Mela de Luna wore an old skirt she bought back in her UP days at an Indian bazaar, which she styled to look like a dress — she cinched it with a belt from Topshop. Her gold sandals are from Janylin, accessories from Aldo and bag from Girbaud. Mela’s style has always been bohemian. She doesn’t have a particular icon but instead wants to be known for her unique and individual style.

Jill Lua

The printed,  backless halter  top Jill wears is from XOXO and her white mini skirt is from Mango. She says she likes wearing short shorts and halter tops, particularly those that are sexy and still decent- looking. This student very much likes the style of Blake Lively.

Margaux Cobarrubias

Margaux wore a Greek-inspired linen dress from Mango. She likes to wear whatever suits her mood. Her wardrobe ranges from Stepford Wives style to ‘80s glam rock to preppy androgynous. Her style icons are her mom and her sister. She muses that her mom is always classy and inimitable and her sister is edgy and confident.

Joanna Miranda

Joanna, who does marketing for Pagcor, wears a long dress from Rustan’s and earrings from People are People. She basically wears what she feels like wearing and whatever looks good on her.
