KISS ASS - Ana G. Kalaw -

Ambushed with nearly a cavalcade of boxed and ribbon-wrapped brownies, rum cakes, fruit cakes and any kind of sugary concoction you can imagine over the holidays, we thought that we’d be avoiding anything remotely sweet by now.

We changed our minds, however, when we encountered Motorola’s sweet limited-edition phones. Three new editions, the Moto Q 9h, the Razr2 V8 Luxury Edition and the Razr2 V9, were all created to incite lust and craving, and whet an appetite that goes beyond any holiday hoopla.

Motorola’s newest QWERTY phone, the Moto Q9h, is, in a sense, a more bad-ass version of the first Moto keyboard mobile.  This sleek, power-packed device offers a cool design that satisfies the appetite of gadget lovers, business professionals and even the techno-fool fashionista, at the same time satisfies a craving for something infinitely functional.

Its 3G capabilities distinguish it from its predecessor, allowing for wide-area wireless voice telephony and high-speed Internet access. Its lean packaging also houses a High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology for lightning fast speed and immediate downloading capabilities (this technology makes the battery last longer as opposed to Wifi). Incorporating Windows Mobile 6 software, the phone processes fairly speedily, compared with other QWERTY units.

If all this techie jargon is just flying over your head, then be assured that this phone looks nice, weighs less than you would think and has extremely clear speakers.

We’ve been raving about the new sleek Razr2 V8, but didn’t realize that its sophisticated housing could almost be described as plebian when compared to the Razr2 Luxury Edition. This special edition of the Razr2 gets fired up with  luxe 18k and 24k gold-plated accents standing out against a luminous, black slate, vacuum metal finish. Decadent details, such as elegant pin stripes on the CLI lens, an engraved diamond-cut pattern on the sideband and a linear etching on the navigation wheel add to the chic finishes of the device. A soft-touch back, embossed with a snakeskin effect, makes it even more luxurious.

Like the Razr2, it still features Crystal Talk technology, quad-band technology, and a 2.0 megapixel camera with 8X digital zoom, video capture and playback to catch every glamorous moment in high-resolution.

If you’re after power rather than pomp, then the newest evolution in the Razr family should be perfect. The sleeker, smarter, stronger Razr2 V9 enables both 3G and HSDPA for easier Internet access and speedier downloading capabilities (think of it as having DSL in your pocket).

Available in a lust-invoking mahogany sheen, the  housing still boasts the ultra-slim stainless steel frame the Razr2 is known for.
