All that jazz

- JR Isaac -

Spectacular old- Hollywood glam took over the runway that featured Freeway’s holiday collection by design newbie Mel Orlina. A majestic illusion inspired by ‘20s French fashion stood against the angular catwalk  along with brocade walls. The fashion show was a display of everything vintage, whimsical, and avant-garde with models transformed into beautiful ‘20s glamour girls, clad in a flurry of pleating and ruching.

Designer Mel Orlina used bright colors of pomegranate red, young grape, emerald green, sea teal, with touches of black, white and gray for this collection on varying silhouettes, from smart structured pieces to soft flowy drapes. To match the brilliant hues, Mel used a variety of intricate fabrics: practical and comfy stretch jersey, satinized twill, luxurious gem-colored satin charmeuse.  To cap off the extravaganza, Freeway endorser Anne Curtis was presented. The young actress was wearing a white minidress with elaborate ruffles, an ensemble perfect for the elegant affair.

Sheree Gotuaco

Freeway’s Sheree Gotuaco wears a detail-heavy dress by Mel Orlina, the designer of Freeway’s holiday collection. She did not use many accessories except for a two-strand pearl necklace given by her mother and gold drop earrings.

Kate Torralba

Fashion designer Kate wears her own design, a sneak piece from her latest collection, soon to be available at the Kate Torralba store in Greenbelt 5. She accessorizes it with suede Juan boots and a curly hairstyle done by Jasmine Lisbona of Hairworks.

Veronique Corpus

Viva Films executive Veronique wears a dress from Zara with a big yellow belt and gold bling as accessories. The yellow matched her cheerful mood that night.

Frances Sales

Frances, EIC of OK magazine, wears a Topshop minidress with black tights and sky-high black pumps from Anthem. Her bag is Nine West, completing her ‘60s  à la Zooey Deschanel look.

Alyanna Martinez

Alyanna wears a dress from Spanish brand Bershka, a gift from a friend who just got back from Europe. This student of fashion pairs it with opaque tights, peep-toe platforms from LA, and skull earrings from Singapore. Her favorite watch completes the ensemble. Alyanna’s inspiration is described as “tough luxury with a touch of punk.”

Jennifer Lee

Viva Hot Babe Jennifer wears a bustier top from Sari-Sari and black slacks by Rollie Graza, with shoes and bag from TEG Company, which is found at Rockwell. Inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s elegance and beauty, she keeps everything simple with a pair of earrings and a bracelet.

Kat Von Einsiedel

Kat wears a gray minidress dusted with gold shimmer bought as a bargain on a Bangkok sidewalk. She wears simple gold heart-shaped earrings and shoes from Celine.

Jane Kingsu

Jane wears a gray bubble dress that she recently got from Beijing. Her accessories are a simple necklace, gray platform pumps also bought in Beijing and a brown Fendi Spy bag. “Gray is the new black,” declares the editor of K magazine.

Liz Uy

Sought-after stylist and Preview editor Liz wears a sequined shift dress from H&M given to her by her boyfriend. Her accessories are a pair of onyx drop earrings from Janina by Jul B Dizon. Her style is a modern interpretation of the glamorous‘20s look.

Mela De Luna

Manual fashion editor Mela wears a top from Sophisticated Missy, a denim skirt from Chocolate and her favorite yellow Mary Janes from Topshop. Since the top is a fashion statement in itself, she did not accessorize much except for a vintage blue brooch. Her style is always part hippie and boho with an edge.

Mich Dulce

Fashion designer Mich wears a top and skirt she made herself with a feathered hat, which she also produced. Her style inspiration is Isabella Blow, who wears simple solid- colored outfits with crazy headdresses.

Nina Estacio

Stylist Nina Estacio wears a red Zara dress to signify her energy and passion for fashion. Her accessories are a studded frog pendant and a simple vintage Dior shoulder bag.
