Meet the superstar
Fashion has needed a new star for a long time coming. The pretty girls will always stun but it’s the true originals that will always be remembered. Such is the upcoming icon of our times — the fabulous Xtina Superstar. She is the sweetheart of the indie crowd and her fashion sense is of the sensational.
“I don’t think I have a specific or certain look, it really depends on my mood. I can go from glam goddess to grunge glam but I think whatever I wear there’s always a touch of glam on it,” she shares lightly.
True enough, her brightly colored ensembles always catch the eye, as they did mine. “My grandmother inspires me when it comes to dressing up. I love the way she dresses. It’s very classic with lots of attitude and confidence. Sometimes if I run out of clothes to wear I end up raiding her closet and I get really nice vintage stuff,” she adds. “For basics I go to Topshop and Topman and for serious fashion I go to Gian Romano.”
Of course, anyone can wear a dress; but what makes Xtina different is her general attitude: “Having that ‘I don’t care what people think’ attitude about dressing up plus wearing high heels adds confidence to my outfit; and of course, going to Fluxxe every Thursday to sweat off the unwanted fat.”
Her idols are as inimitable as she is: “One is Mary Kate Olsen. She turns every piece of clothing into magic. She amazes me all the time. Second is Sophia Lamar for that slutty but chic look and last is Rachel Zoe for those never-ending gowns.”
Xtina wishes more for glam: “I’d like to see more gowns — I mean simple gowns, but with a very detailed and intelligent construction.” Which explains her distaste for over-embellished garments.
I ditto that.
