Young Star

The new Manila

CIRCUIT TRAINING - JR Isaac -
The country’s upcoming young men and women – calling themselves the New Manila – are starting a new movement. The New Manila is throwing parties for all that is fresh and cutting-edge in the local scene, and that which defines the next generation. At a recent gathering, the New Manila gathered at Temple Bar to celebrate the coming new year. The place was packed with hundreds of party citizens that spiked the energy with an all-unique brand of fun. The ceremonies were led by DJs Mark San Diego, Paolo Palencia and Eric Armovit; the trio’s beats made the crowd feel like they’d been pumped with extra liters of fresh music.

PAULA SOLEDAD

What was the best "recycled/homemade" gift you got this Christmas?

I guess the marble paper notebook that my younger sister made because she made every page from scratch and it turned out great.

CARISSA GUIRANTE

What was the first SMS you sent for 2007?

"Happy New Year! The best days are yet come." I sent this before going out to party all night so I wouldn't forget to greet everyone.

MJ MARFORI

Which restaurant would you eat in again for your first date in 2007?

It would be Temple Bar because I can have a good meal and at the same time party after.

EYAH CANTINDIG

Which music rocked your world in 2006?

House and R&B because I loved the beat and the rhythm and it kept me grooving all year.

NICOLE OCAMPO

Which club made your nocturnal lifestyle exciting in 2006?

Embassy made my nightlife more exciting last year because I met new and different kinds of people: I got to prove to myself that each one has a unique character.

CLAUDINE BACANI

Which of the novels that you read last year would you like to see made into a film?

The Catcher In The Rye
by J.D. Salinger is my all-time favorite novel; it’s not just a typical novel with twists and turns but rather an exceptional story of a unique child. The novel is engaging and truly speaks of an adolescent's struggle to survive in the outside world. I can’t wait for this to become a film.

KAMAI DE JESUS

What will you be saving for in 2007?

I would keep all my memories of 2006, both good and bad, so that I can improve myself this year and not commit the same mistakes.

BEA SORIANO

What are you looking forward to this first week of 2007?

There is always something about the first week of the New Year wherein the energy of everyone is geared towards changing for the better, which can be so infectious. I am looking forward to a first week of full determination to break the bad old habits and replace them with new good ones.

FRANCESCA TEODORO

Which TV show inspired you in 2006 ?

That ‘70s Show
inspired me because ’70s fashion rocks!

OLIVIA JACINTO

Which fashion craze from 2006 will you still be wearing this year?

I don’t exactly follow trends. I just go with what attracts me most and, at the same time, make sure that whatever I wear isn’t something that would look awkward. Basically I wear what I feel and what looks good on me.
